Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor are working on the Legally Blonde 3 script.  Kaling was named by Time magazine as one of the world’s most influential people in 2013.

She was nominated for her outstanding writing in comedy series and acting roles in various films such as The Office and voiceovers in Despicable Me and Inside Out.

Goor has written for various comedy shows, including Late Night with Conan O'Brien and The Daily Show by Trevor Noah.

Like most films produced in the recent past, ‘Legally Blonde 3’ will feature various feminist themes.

"Legally Blonde 3 will be so much fun. So full of fashion. So full of awesome feminist ideas. It will be global. It will have animals. It will have returning cast members,” Witherspoon said on Instagram.

Legally Blonde 3 was expected to hit the screens by Valentine’s Day 2020. However, IMDB later said the movie would be released in May 2020.

The reason is that the current coronavirus pandemic interfered with the schedule. Given the uncertainty surrounding the current global crisis, no release date has been set.

Witherspoon will return in Legally Blonde 3. Other actors expected to feature in the trilogy include Jennifer Coolidge, who will play Paulette, Elle’s best friend and stylist.

Elle’s husband in the first film, Luke Wilson, also said he would be glad to return. Selma Blair, who acted as Vivian, will also appear in ‘Legally Blonde 3’.
